Graduate Seminar in Spiritual Process Work

October 2008 - April 2009

with

Thomas Yeomans Ph.D.

This seminar focuses on work with the spiritual dimension and the energies of the soul. The overall purpose of the seminar is to help advanced practitioners continue to learn how to work more effectively with this intangible realm of human experience and to integrate it with the psychological and behavioral realms. As well, its purpose is to build a community of practitioners who can support each other in learning better how to cooperate with the process and dynamics of psycho-spiritual maturation - both their own and their clients'.

The specific focus of the seminar is on the living experience of spiritual process and on how it unfolds uniquely in each person toward psycho-spiritual maturity. We will evoke, share, and study this complex process through dialogue about our personal and professional experiences, through observed demonstration sessions, dyadic practicum, case studies, and questions from our clinical work. Teaching that illumines and context- ualizes this process and how it works will arise from our work together.

The format, thus, includes teaching on specific immediately relevant topics, demonstration sessions, experiential exercises, dyadic practice, and group dialogue. The format will also be responsive to the group's emerging needs month to month. There will be reading and occasional "homework" in the form of specific practices. Throughout the emphasis will be on learning from immediate experience with the soul's energy and from reflection on the principles and process by which spiritual force works in human life.

Participants need to have had at least two years of training in Psychosynthesis and/or Spiritual Psychology at a recognized training center (e.g. The Synthesis Center, The Concord Institute, Vermont Center for Psychosynthesis, New York Psychosynthesis Instititue, etc.) or have substantial professional background and training and a deep interest in work with the spiritual dimension. The seminar will be limited to twelve people.

Thomas Yeomans, Ph.D. studied with Roberto Assagioli, the founder of Psychosynthesis, and trained at the Psychosynthesis Institute in Palo Alto, CA, in the early '70's, and has since trained professionals in Psychosynthesis and Spiritual Psychology throughout North America and in Europe and Russia for almost four decades. He has published writing on Psycho- synthesis and Spiritual Psychology as well as three volumes of poetry and a children's book. He is founder/director of the Concord Institute and is at present writing a book on the principles and dynamics of personal and social transformation. He also maintains a private practice in psycho-spiritual consulting and mentoring in Shelburne Falls, MA.

The dates of the seminar are as follows: October 18, November 15, December 13, January 17, February 14, March 14, April 18. (Hold May 16 as a snow date). Cost is on a sliding scale of $140-$100 per Saturday, for a total of $980-$700 for the seminar. The payment plan is self-selected (see application). Harmony Institute continues its tradition of annual international conferences. Since 1993 we have held fifteen conferences on Conflict Resolution and ten conferences on Creativity, hosting thousands of people from dozens of countries.

Our conferences have always been a place for people from different countries, cultures, and professional disciplines to meet and share their personal and professional experiences. The diversity that has been a central feature of our conferences mirrors the diversity that is central to the modern world, which encompasses all strands of our social, professional and private life. Encountering 'the Other' (in its many forms) is a common reality of our world, and such encounters often lead to complex circumstances and difficult feelings.

To directly explore these issues, this year our conference theme is Diversity, Difference, and Otherness. We will create a safe space where, together, we can study our relationships to Difference, practice meeting Diversity, and learn to be with the Other, in dialogue and with presence.

All those who are touched by this topic, people of all ages and of all ethnic, religious, professional and national backgrounds, are invited to take part in our conference. Your participation will help us to give everyone present the opportunity to share knowledge and experiences of how to meet, work with, and benefit from encounters with differences and diversity. We hope that the formal and informal events and meetings of this conference will enrich you professionally and personally and open up new prospects for cooperation and friendship.

We are looking forward to seeing you at the Conference!
